Terms of Service

• Needlee is free while the beta runs, and it is unfinished.
• Your patterns and your files stay yours. We only handle them to run the app for you.
• Upload a pattern you bought or wrote. Do not pass a copy on to anyone else.
• Your pattern file is never shared. Sharing a pattern shows its name and your progress, and nothing more.
• You can leave whenever you like, and we will delete what we hold.
• We cannot promise the app is perfect, so there is a limit on what we owe you if it lets you down.

Needlee is a one-person project. Dexter Marks-Barber, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, runs it. When this page says we, it means him. When it says you, it means whoever is using the app.

Using Needlee means you accept these terms. If you do not, the app is not for you, and that is fine. Our privacy policy sits alongside this page and covers what we do with your data.

Accounts are for people aged 13 and over. One account is for one person, so please do not share a login or hand yours on to someone else.

You sign in through a provider, so we never see or store a password. Keep that sign-in safe. If you think someone else has got into your account, tell us at terms@needl.ee and we will help you shut it down.

Tell us the truth in the few fields we ask for. An account made under someone else's name is one we will close.

Needlee is in a closed beta, so access is by invitation and the app is free. There is nothing to pay and nothing to cancel.

A beta means things break. Features move, screens get redrawn, and now and then something will not work. We may change or remove any part of the app while the beta runs.

If we ever start charging, we will say so on this page and tell you before it applies to you. We will not turn a free account into a paid one behind your back.

Everything you put into Needlee is yours. Your patterns, the grids you map, the stitches you mark off, the fabric stash you record, and the files you upload. Making an account does not hand any of it to us.

To show your work back to you, we need your permission to store it, copy it between our systems, and display it. That is the whole permission you give us, it lasts only as long as the content is here, and it ends when the content is deleted.

We do not sell your content, we do not pass it to anyone else to use, and we do not train anything on it.

A pattern is private until you make it public, and sharing shows far less than you might expect. Other people see the pattern name, the designer name, your progress, the stitch count, and the deadline you set. That is the whole list.

The pattern itself stays behind. Your pattern file is never shared, and neither is the grid you built in the mapper. Making a pattern public says what you are stitching and how far you have got. It does not hand anybody the pattern.

Sharing is not switched on yet, so nothing of yours is visible to anyone today. When we do switch it on, it stays off until you turn it on for a pattern, and you can turn it off again at any time. Anything somebody already saw is out of our hands.

If you connect Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive, your files stay in your own account and we hold only a pointer to them. Disconnect the drive and we lose our reach into it.

Most patterns are somebody's work, and they are sold under a licence. Upload a pattern you bought, a pattern you were given, or a pattern you wrote yourself. A copy you bought is for you, so do not hand it on to anyone, here or anywhere else.

Needlee gives you no way to pass a pattern file to another user, and we would like to keep it that way. Do not try to work around that.

If you are a designer, the only thing about your pattern that another user can ever see here is its name next to yours. We are glad to talk about that, or about anything else on the site that worries you. Write to terms@needl.ee and tell us what you have found. If somebody has got hold of your work in a way they should not have, we act on it, and we will not wait for a court to tell us to.

• Upload a pattern you have no right to a copy of, or pass one on to somebody else.
• Upload anything unlawful, hateful, or built to hurt someone.
• Get into an account, a record, or a file that is not yours.
• Scrape the site, hammer it with automated requests, or try to knock it over.
• Pull the app apart to rebuild it as your own, or resell access to it.
• Pretend to be someone else, or pretend to be us.

We can remove content that breaks the rules above, and we can suspend or close an account that keeps breaking them. We keep a log of changes to records, so we can see what happened before we act.

Where we can, we will tell you what we removed and why, and you can reply to terms@needl.ee if you think we got it wrong. Where the law or a real risk of harm says otherwise, we act first.

You can stop using Needlee at any time. Ask us to close your account and we will delete your profile, your patterns, your progress, your fabric stash and the files you uploaded. Backups age out on their own within 30 days.

We can close your account too, and we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to get your work out, unless you have done something that makes waiting a bad idea.

If we ever shut Needlee down, we will tell you before we do it and give you time to take your patterns with you.

We promise to run the app carefully and to be honest with you about it. That is as far as it goes.

Needlee comes as it is. We do not promise it will always be up, that it will never lose data, or that it will fit the way you work. Keep your own copy of any pattern file that matters to you, because a backup of ours is for putting the service back together, not for getting one file back.

If something goes wrong, we are responsible for the loss we actually caused, and no further. We are not responsible for work you lost time on, patterns you could not reach while the app was down, or anything a court would call indirect.

Because the app is free, there is nothing you paid to refund, so anything we owe you is capped at 100 GBP.

None of this cuts down the things the law does not let us limit, such as our own fraud, or death or injury we caused. If you are a consumer in the UK, your statutory rights stand whatever this page says.

The date at the top of this page is the honest one. If we change something that matters, we will move that date and tell you before the change takes effect. Small fixes to wording will not move it.

If you keep using Needlee after a change, you accept the new terms. If you do not like them, close your account and take your work with you.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute about them. If you are a consumer somewhere else, this does not take away the protection your own country gives you.
